This book’s iconography uses a mix of visual references - typography, engineering blue prints, artefacts that symbolise the multi-facted nature of Infrastructure Development and photographs of people - to tell this story. The designers chose these visual references as an accessible entry point into every chapter in the book, using shades of black to grey, typography and editorial design to communicate information and the narrative with clarity.

Drawing on archival research and interviews, and preparation for a conference (of the same name as the book) organised by the Association Of Consulting Engineers, Nigeria Engineering Is Design is a historical and contemporary assessment of the socio-political environment in which Engineering operates, in Nigeria’s developmental context.
This is the story of the Association Of Consulting Engineers Of Nigeria and its efforts to contribute to the development of Nigeria. It is intended to present the association’s history as well as stimulate valuable perspectives, whilst taking a long term view of development.
